In cleanroom engineering, LAF is the abbreviation of Laminar Air Flow, which is translated as laminar flow hood in Chinese. It is a modular purification device designed to provide a local high-cleanliness environment.
 
Its core working principle is as follows: the built-in fan drives air through a primary filter for pre-filtration, followed by a HEPA/ULPA high-efficiency filter for precision filtration. Finally, the air is delivered as a uniform and stable laminar airflow (typically at a velocity of 0.36–0.54 m/s) in a vertical or horizontal direction, forming a unidirectional flow clean zone over designated areas (such as workbench surfaces and process operation stations). This setup effectively prevents dust particles and microorganisms from the surrounding environment from entering the target zone, while quickly removing contaminants generated during operational processes.
